English Pancakes
English pancakes are perfect. Scotch ones are small and fat, French large and thin. This recipe is for traditional English pancakes…
Ingredients
1 egg
110g of Plain Flour
1/2pint (300ml) of Milk
Some Oil - to grease the pan.Equipment
A big bowl & a whisk
A frying pan & a thin spatula
Kitchen Roll (the secret weapon!)
A ladleHow to make English Pancakes
1. Pour the flour and milk into the bowl then break in the egg.
2. Whisk like mad.
3. Heat up the pan.
4. Pour a little drop of vegetable oil into the hot pan.
5. Taking care, use some kitchen roll to wipe the oil all around the pan. You’re ready to go!
6. Ladle in some pancake mix and roll the pan around to spread it out. Add a bit more if you need to, but be quick about it.
7. As it cooks, loosen the edges of the pancake with your spatula. Once it’s all loose and slips around the pan, flip it over! The safest way is to use the spatula.
8. When your pancake has a few big bubbles underneath, it’s about done. Slide it onto a plate and add your favourite topping – sugar and lemon is always good.
9. As you make more pancakes you’ll soon get better at it. It’s well worth the practice!
