Corned Beef Hash
Corned Beef Hash is official “Boy’s Food”. It’s warm, filling and uses only one pan. Corned beef hash is also the perfect companion for tomato ketchup!
Ingredients
(enough to serve 4 people)
4 Large potatoes
2-3 Carrots
1 Large onion
A stock cube (any sort will do – except fish!)
Large tin of corned beef
Tablespoon of cooking oil
Equipment
A large pan
A wooden spoon
A potato peeler
A knife to chop the veg
A chopping board
How to make your Corned Beef Hash:
1. Chop the onions. Peel the carrots and potatoes and cut them into large chunks.
2. Heat the oil in a pan and add the onions. Cook on medium for three or four minutes until they start to soften.
3. Add the chunks of carrots and potatoes and cook them for two more minutes.
4. Cover the veg with water. Crumble in the stock cube and bring the water to the boil.

5. Add the tin of corned beef and mash it into chunks with the wooden spoon. Add a bit more water so the corned beef and the vegetables are completely covered, then turn down the heat and let it all simmer for 15 – 20 minutes. It’ll be ready when the potatoes are cooked. Just test one every so often by prodding it with a fork.6. Stir it all up and taste your Corned Beef Hash. Add pepper and salt, if you think it needs it. (The corned beef is already quite salty.) The texture will be like a really thick soup.
7. Spoon it onto plates. Add your ketchup. Add some more ketchup. Done.
…here’s a girl version of the recipe, though why girls would want to eat such manly food is a mystery…corned beef hash .
